A fiery passion. A tragic death. A broken engagement. A secret child.

When Evie Singh meets Aidan Quinn at a New Years Eve party in 1992, they are both in their thirties with well established careers. Evie is a workaholic psychiatrist who specializes in trauma and Aidan is a hard charging commodities trader and world class mountain climber. The chemistry between these two opposites explodes in a fiery passion and, eventually, a deep emotional bond.

However, their relationship is threatened by Aidan’s addiction to extreme sports and Evie’s longing for a calm, secure family life. Evie agrees to get engaged to Aidan, on the promise that he will quit mountain climbing after fulfilling his life long ambition of summiting K2, one of the world’s deadliest peaks.

But a terrible tragedy on the mountain, changes the trajectory of their relationship, leading to a parting of the ways. Two years later, despite the fact that Evie’s married to Peter, a kind, steady pediatrician with an adopted son, Aidan convinces Evie to meet him for a drink, at one of their old haunts. What happens between them that afternoon, results in consequences neither can foresee, the final truth of which is not revealed until after Evie’s death, in 2041.
